Riverhead loses two kebab houses

Not too long ago, Riverhead was a prime source of first-rate kebabs.

No longer. Closed are both Hizir Baba, a charming Turkish spot by the Peconic River, and Sindhu Grocery & Kabab House, a quirky (but very good) Pakistani restaurant within a food market.

Both restaurants opened in 2009. Both received two and a half stars from Newsday. Both will be missed.
