S’mores croissant-doughnuts in Northport

As it does battle with the cupcake for supremacy, the doughnut has gotten a powerful new weapon from Cook’s Scratch Kitchen in Northport: the s’mores croissant doughnut.
According to partner Josh Cook, the pastry starts with the shop’s homemade croissant dough, which is cut into rings and then deep fried. Next it’s glazed with chocolate, sprinkled with graham cracker crumbs and topped with homemade marshmallows and lightly torched to “brûlée” the topping. The doughnut costs $4.
The s’mores doughnut is Tuesday’s daily doughnut special. Cook’s Scratch Kitchen has one most every day and recent entries have included strawberry, peanut butter and maple-bacon.
