Lobster Shack has risen from the ashes of Phoenix on Merrick Road in Seaford. The attractive seafood restaurant, which opened this weekend, is owned by Gregg Garofalo, who also runs Puglia's in Garden City. "The town needed a seafood restaurant," he said. Puglia's chef, Antonio Bonilla, will also be overseeing Lobster Shack's kitchen.

The menu blends fish-house archetypes (clam chowder, lobster rolls, steamed lobsters, fish and chips) with Italian-American favorites (scungilli, clams oreganata, linguine clam sauce) and new-fangled classics (coconut shrimp, lobster mac and cheese, walnut-crusted salmon). For landlubbers: burgers, chicken parm. Appetizers are $12 to $18; most mains are from $17 to $29. Lunch prices are lower.

Lobster Shack is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday. A full liquor license is pending. 3915 Merrick Rd., Seaford, 516-586-8617, lobstershacklongisland.com.
