Shake Shack opens in Tanger Outlets Riverhead

Shake Shack has opened its easternmost Long Island location, in Riverhead.

The space in Tanger Outlets Riverhead, at 1704 Tanger Mall Drive, opened late June with fan-favorites on the menu like the shack burger ($7.79 for a single patty). The burger joint also launches with the chain's limited-time West Coast menu featuring the "juicy, savory and sweet west coast burger" ($12.49), made with caramelized onions and honey mustard pickles served on a toasted potato bun, the "west coast chicken sandwich" ($9.49), avocado, lettuce, tomato and shake shack’s sour cream and onion sauce also served on a toasted potato bun, plus "west coast loaded fries" ($6.99), topped with melted Cheddar and American cheese, caramelized onions and Shake Shack’s secret sauce.

Drinks include the mini passionfruit popping boba lemonades ($6.49 for a large)  in flavors strawberry, sparkling cucumber basil or a tropical mango.

The interior decor maintains Shake Shack’s industrial modern look with exposed ceilings. There are also timber trusses with string lights that add a warm and airy feel to the dining room. The lively mural with bright colors such as yellow, green, pink and blue features some of the vendor’s best-known products such as their crinkle cut fries, burgers and milkshakes. There is also a patio with tables and seats for guests.

Joe Kaufman, regional marketing manager for Shake Shack, said the brand wanted to expand its reach "and get into new communities. It’s the furthest out east ... and it’s distance to the next Shack over, especially when you’re talking about New York and Long Island, is a little bit greater than most."
