Perhaps it wasn’t fair of me to stop by Skinny Pizza a day after having my dream pie at Salvatore’s in Port Washington. But I’d never been there, and the Roslyn location is so very convenient to Exit 37 on the LIE. (That’s how, all those years ago, I stumbled into Ravagh Persian Grill — just across the street from Skinny — and discovered the sacred jujeh kebab.)

I was very taken with my Skinny Shrooms slice, shiitake, cremini and [the menu says] porcini mushrooms on a whole-wheat crust ($3.50). The topping was deeply savory and while I’m not usually a fan of whole-wheat crusts, this one worked really well. According to skinnypizza.com, the slice had 190 calories and 4.5 grams of fat. (The bad news: 26 grams of carbs.) A pizza well worth a detour.

But the Skinny Classic ($2.50, 190 calories, 6 grams fat, 28 grams carbs) just seemed like a bad bar pie, with too-sweet sauce and not-oozy-enough cheese. Skinny Arugula ($3.50, 220 calories) was defeated by a too-sweet and packaged-tasting balsamic dressing.

Skinny Pizza is at 211 Mineola Ave., Roslyn Heights, 516-686-6180 and at Roosevelt Field (near J.C. Penney), 630 Old Country Rd., Garden City 516-739-8899.
