Smashburger, which has grown by, yes, smashing its hamburgers, opens a branch in East Northport on Wednesday, Feb. 24.
That will make six Smashburgers on Long Island, and the second in Suffolk. There are more than 300 Smashburgers nationwide and in five countries.
Smashburger’s contrarian technique of smashing down the burger results in more browning and crust, which contributes to the flavors, according to devotees. Burgers are $5.89 and $6.89 depending on toppings.
The burgeries also offer Smashchicken, either marinated and grilled or fried; salads, fries and sides; shakes; Coca-Cola fountain drinks; Stewart’s beverages; and hot dogs, including the Long Island dog with sauerkraut, grilled onions and spicy mustard.
The latest will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 4097 Jericho Tpke., East Northport, at Larkfield Road, on the north side of the turnpike next to Golfsmith. The telephone number is 631-486-8309.
Smashburger’s other Long Island locations are at 36 E. Sunrise Hwy., Lindenhurst, 631-450-4324; 1223 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh, 516-308-4772; 180 W. Old Country Rd., Hicksville, 516-605-2235; 1608 Marcus Ave., New Hyde Park, 516-233-1844; and 973 Port Washington Blvd., Port Washington, 516-439-4736.
