This summer, Jones Beach may seem a little hotter, since Smokin' Al's Famous BBQ Joint popped out two pop-up eateries. They're open every Saturday and Sunday through Labor Day weekend.
The Massapequa Park barbecue spot, which garnered a three-star review in July and made it onto Newsday's Top 100 Restaurants list, will be serving pulled pork, chopped brisket, baby back ribs and smoked chicken wings at a full-service restaurant located outside the East Bathhouse. Dinner entrees, which come with corn, coleslaw and corn bread, cost $25.95. The meal runs from 4 to 10 p.m.
Also, by the food court at the Central Mall, a BBQ stand will offer sandwiches (pulled pork, pulled chicken, chopped brisket and smoked sausage) as well as smoked wings from noon until around 10 p.m. All sandwiches cost $10, wings $12.
At both venues, you'll find live music at certain times during the day.
Smokin' Al's Famous BBQ Joint is at 4847 Merrick Rd., Massapequa Park, 516-799-4900, smokinals.com
