Steakhouses rank high on Long Island, for their quality and their popularity. Here are three prime choices.
ROTHMANN'S
This local landmark returned to top form in 2014. It's recommended for both beef and for seafood. Try the grilled octopus, crabcakes, shrimp cocktail, steamed or broiled lobster, and, of course, the filet mignon, strip steak and porterhouse for two. $$$-$$$$

TELLERS
The "American Chophouse" is situated in a converted bank building, for one of Suffolk's more dramatic interiors. Standouts include seared tuna, black-pepper bacon, spicy "millennium" lobster, bone-in filet mignon and the epic rib eye. $$$-$$$$

BLACKSTONE STEAKHOUSE
Blackstone offers excellent filet mignon, sirloin, rib eye, porterhouse, pork chops and some of the best sushi in a very competitive neighborhood. The raw bar selections are outstanding, too. And the side dishes are reliable. Attentive, accommodating service. $$$-$$$$
