On Monday, Sept. 10, chefs Guy Reuge, Tom Schaudel and Lia Fallon will be giving cooking demonstrations and food tastings to help raise money for the Stony Brook Heights Rooftop Farm at Stony Brook University Hospital.

The event, which runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m., will be held at  the “farm” itself, the Level 4 deck of the Health Sciences Tower. Also on the agenda: Book signings by Leann Lavin, author of  “The Hamptons & Long Island Homegrown Cookbook,” a harvest basket auction by farmer and poet Scott Chaskey of Quail Hill Farm and music by a harpist.

Run by the nutrition division of the Department of Family Medicine, the Stony Brook Heights Rooftop Garden is geared to feeding and educating patients about the farm-to-fork experience. The venture is also responsible for starting 10 community gardens in economically stressed Suffolk County communities.

The suggested donation at the door is $100, although lower amounts will be accepted. In case of rain, the event will be Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 5:30 p.m.

For questions, call 631-638-2132.
