Have you ever cast about for a festive spot to have lunch on a Saturday? It can be quite a challenge. Weekday lunch is a no-brainer. Sunday brunch? Just about everyone’s doing it. But Saturday afternoon, it seems, the chain restaurants rule the scene.

Or maybe not. This weekend, for the first time, Stresa in Manhasset will kick off its new Saturday (and Sunday) lunch schedule. Most interesting items on the Italian-Continental restaurant's a la carte menu: a crabmeat (or cheese) soufflé and a shrimp and scallop frittata. Many items from the dinner menu are featured, as well.

A three-course prix-fixe, at $26, includes a starter (soup, antipasto or mussels Posillipo), main course (capellini with tomatoes and basil or broiled salmon) and the dessert of the day with a choice of coffee, tea, espresso or cappuccino.

Stresa is at 1524 Northern Blvd., Manhasset, 516-365-6957.
