A sure sign that spring has arrived in Long Beach: Alan Adams has reopened the fast food window at his Italian restaurant, Sugo. Last year, he ran a taco and hot dog stand called Jax. This year, Adams has given the window a new name with a Caribbean twist: Ya Mons Munchies. It’s open weekdays from noon until about 9 p.m. and later on weekends — weather permitting, of course.

The namesake “Ya Mon” taco is filled with jerk chicken, pineapple mango salsa and hot yellow peppers ($5 each, 2 for $9). Most of the menu, though, is devoted to a roster of hot dogs as creative as they are bizarre-sounding. There’s the “Cobb,“ topped with lettuce, tomato, bacon, mayonnaise and guacamole ($7). The “Falafel” ($8), which Adams sees as  “an Israeli corn dog,”  features a frank actually encrusted with falafel and topped with babaghanoush. Then, there’s the “Fresser,” heaped with chopped liver, slaw, Russian dressing and hot peppers ($6).

Every item comes with a side salad and bottled water.

Next week, Adams expects to add Chinese steamed buns and dim sum to the menu.

Ya Mons Munchies at Sugo is at 62 W. Park Ave., Long Beach, 516-431-7846.
