Kiss'o, the popular Japanese restaurant that has anchored the eastern bay of the Lake Success Shopping Center since 1996, has closed. Its replacement is Mikawa Japanese & Korean Modern.
Mikawa, as the name suggests, serves Japanese and Korean food. Among the appetizers, most $7 to $12, there's the little-seen okonomiyaki (Japanese seafood pancake, $12) as well as Korean jap chae (stir-fried vermicelli, $9). The sushi bar not only serves the expected Japanese-style dishes but also hwe deop bap (spicy sashimi bowl over rice, $20). There are also five variations of bibimbap (marinated meat or fish over rice, $17).
The space has been renovated and spruced up and includes a tatami room.
Mikawa is at 1532 Union Tpke., New Hyde Park, 516-355-0587, MikawaNY.com
