Macari Vineyards'  fine dessert wine, Block E, was served at the White House on Monday.

President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama were among the sippers at the 2011 Governor's Dinner. It marked the third time that a wine from the Mattituck producer was poured at an event at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Twice during the Clinton Administration, the winery's 1997 barrel-fermented chardonnay  was the choice.

The 2008 Block E, made with viognier and pinot gris grapes, sells for $40. It's a balanced, elegant ice wine, with hints of tropical fruit. Ice wines are concentrated productions, made with frozen grapes. Kelly Urbanik is winemaker at Macari, which was established in 1995.
