Get ready for more Taco Fresco, Long Island.
One year after the Sonoran-inspired taco spot opened in Babylon, Taco Fresco is doubling its space to add dine-in seating for about two dozen and also pursuing a liquor license, co-owner Mike Tochluk said. The expansion involves knocking down the wall to the neighboring space, a former salon, doubling the restaurant's space from 600 square feet to 1,200.
"It gives us an opportunity to expand on what we’re passionate about doing, which is serving, hopefully, the best tacos on Long Island," he said.
Indeed, Taco Fresco was named one of Long Island's best new restaurants in 2025. It's the rare spot that makes handmade Sonoran-style flour tortillas to order, with a short menu of street tacos and mulitas (tortilla sandwiches). Currently, the spot is takeout-centric, with tight counter seating for a couple of people near its Sonoran-style salsa bar, which offers radishes, limes, salsa verde, pico de gallo and salsa roja for custom accompaniments.
With the expansion, Tochluk expects to broaden the menu to include burritos, rice and beans as well as a Sunday brunch menu with breakfast tacos and burritos. A liquor license will bring bottled beer, margaritas and the Mexican twist on Bloody Marys, micheladas.
