Pad Thai may be the most popular noodle dish at Thai restaurants, but for sheer comfort, it's hard to beat pad see-yu (also spelled pad see-ew), a name that translates to "fried with soy sauce." Made with flat rice noodles, soy sauce, egg and Chinese broccoli, it resembles, in many ways, Chinese chow fun. You can order it with chicken, shrimp, beef and, perhaps, pork or tofu.
Here are three restaurants that do the dish particularly well.
At this Kings Park Thai spot, the pad see-yu goes down easy — and works best when ordered with shrimp. ($15)
