The Whale's Tale

Call it a twice-told tale. The Whale’s Tale, an outdoor restaurant hidden away in Northport’s Brittania Marina, reopened for its second summer. Sosh Andriano, who was a partner at Zimzari and Mercato in Massapequa Park, took over the place from his father, putting his own stamp on the menu.

Over dinner on the deck, I watched the sky go from blue to pink as boats bobbed nearby. My raw clams and oysters were fresh and briny, the fried soft shell crabs I tasted crunchy and sweet. Even the plastic dinnerware didn't bother me after a few sips of the fine and fruity sangria.

The menu features appetizers (such as “bang bang” shrimp), chowders, salads, tacos, fried fish, burgers plus a few entree plates, the costliest of which is a seafood stew, at $15.95. There are also a few kiddie choices, such as a $4.95 peanut butter and jelly taco.
