In this week’s Newsday, Joan Reminick visits the Ciao Baby restaurants in Commack and Massapequa Park, where executive chef (and “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 2 winner) Heather West has been working to revitalize the menus since January. Reminick found a marked difference in execution depending on whether West was in the kitchen. “Be smart,” she cautions, “and call before you go.”
Peter Gianotti celebrates Discovery Channel’s “Shark Week” by reviewing Landshark, on Freeport’s Nautical Mile. “The successor to Blue 42,” he writes, “is a casual catch, tight tables inside and out, some providing a water view and all geared toward an image of islands other than Long.”
