Not a stellar week for new restaurants. Joan Reminick and Peter Gianotti split three stars among them.
Reminick visits Sombrero’s Southwest Grill in Kings Park, “a Tex-Mex Eatery with a dual identity”: serve-yourself steam table at lunch, table service at dinner.
Peter Gianotti reviews Tappo, Glen Cove, where la dolce vita comes more from “Mastroianni and Loren, Gassman and Magnani .?.?. eternally young, in black-and-white photos from the skinny black-tie-and-Vespa era” than from the Italian-American menu.
Dining sorrows are easily downed in Cinco de Mayo, tomorrow’s celebration of Mexican heritage. Here are some ideas for festive margaritas, tacos and other Mexican favorites.
