In this week’s Newsday, Peter Gianotti visits Ichiz Sushi, “a sleek sake bar and lounge that fits neatly into downtown Huntington.” The small-plates menu, ranging “from elevated bar chow to sushi rolls to more refined riffs,” is the work of Ichiro Yamagishi, former chef-owner at Sushi Ichi in East Setauket.

Joan Reminick reviews Osaka, Shoreham’s only Japanese restaurant, whose “crew easily shoulders such responsibility, covering all the requisites — sushi, teriyaki, tempura and hibachi dishes — with aplomb.”

Reminick also surveys the scene at Swell Taco, the new surf-themed Cal-Mex-Suff taqueria in Babylon Village. Looking for more “summer scenes”? Check out this guide.

At Ichiz in Huntington, the bar stocks 22 sakes, five shochus and a solo plum wine.
