The Cooperage Inn in Baiting Hollow gets two stars from Peter Gianotti in today's Newsday. You can "have your meatloaf -- and small plates, too," he writes. Gianotti recommends the meatloaf, of course, along with stout-braised short ribs, potato-and-onion crusted fluke and the sesame-chicken spring roll with a sweet-chile emulsion and peanut dipping sauce.

Joan Reminick gives three stars to Sapsuckers Hops & Grub, a locavore's delight in Huntington. Smoky baby-back ribs, four-cheese mac-and-cheese, a Chicago-style hot dog, braised pork shank and winning burgers are among the dishes she recommends at this gastro-pub.
