The new Cedar Creek American Bar & Grill is just what every neighborhood needs, Peter Gianotti writes in today's Newsday. Giving the Glen Cove restaurant two-and-a-half stars, he recommends house-made potato chips with melted Maytag blue cheese, Texas chili, roasted beef marrow and the savory pulled chicken, pictured above.

Joan Reminick reviews Trattachino, a new restaurant in Wantagh. "In chef-owner Joseph Balbo's sociable world of small plates," she says, "ravioli rubs elbows with Thai-glazed calamari, mac and cheese mingles with short rib tortillas." Reminick gives the restaurant two-and-a-half stars.
