Toastique has opened its first Long Island location, in Woodbury, serving loaded toasts and bowls as well as juice and smoothies. The chain takes over the former Dugans Sandwich Shop on Jericho Turnpike.

Toastique has more than 50 locations from Arizona and California to Florida; its other New York locations include Manhattan (near Byrant Park) and New Rochelle.

The menu includes both sweet and savory gourmet toasts. loaded with say, smashed avocado ($14) or smoked salmon ($15). The PB+B bowl is made with acai, banana, blueberry, peanut butter and almond milk topped with banana, blueberries, chopped dates, peanuts and granola, drizzled with peanut butter. Cold-pressed juices start at $9.50, and are served alongside coffee and smoothies.

Toastique is the first foray into the food industry for local franchise owners Chris and Andrea Pedersen. It took two years to prepare for the opening, including travel to Washington, D.C. for training and plenty of shifts in other locations to learn how to craft the elaborate toasts.

The décor at the new Toastique in Woodbury is minimalist yet elegant with light wood tables and an Instagram-ready faux greenery wall with Toastique's logo.
