TV chef in Greenvale: Meet, greet, frites

Corina Elgart, proprietor of the Syosset custom-cake shop Taste, is one of 10 contestants on TLC’s new reality-competition show, Next Great Baker, a spinoff of Cake Boss. To celebrate the show’s Monday-night premier, she’ll be having dinner at Bar Frites in Greenvale and at 9 p.m., all televisions there will be tuned to TLC. Elgart hasn’t seen the show, so she’s as anxious as anyone to see how she looks on TV.
In fact, Bar Frites is a very civilized setting for a French bistro meal. Monday night’s plat du jour is braised short ribs served with mashed potatoes ($27).
