Two Blondes and a Stove come to Huntington
Two Blondes and a Stove is the name of a new restaurant in Huntington Village. For now the kitchen puts out breakfast and lunch, with dinner in the offing — once the liquor license comes through. Cooking classes are also offered.
The two blondes were, originally, Dena Fenza and Jennifer Queen, who used that name for a home-catering business when their kids were small. Fenza went on to a number of restaurant jobs, most recently as general manager of Ragazzi in Nesconset. When she took over the space at the corner of Clinton Avenue and Gerard Street, she resuscitated the name. (Queen is on board as catering sales manager.)
Fenza recruited another Ragazzi alum, Michael Hansen, to run the kitchen, and their menu displays both inventiveness and whimsy. Among the breakfast items: “Giambotta” (roasted potato, zucchini, red peppers and onions with scrambled eggs and Pecorino Romano cheese, $10.50) and “Pesca Frenchie” (challah French toast encrusted with amaretto cookie crumbs and topped with sweetened mascarpone cream and roasted peach syrup, $10.25). Lunch includes “Lady Diana Lettuce Wraps” (grilled chicken with zesty slaw and Thai peanut sauce, $9.95), Thai beef salad (grilled skirt steak with mixed greens, roasted peppers, cherry tomatoes and avocado in a Thai vinaigrette, $11.50) and “The Mae West” (lemon/basil hummus with shaved carrot, tomato, cucumber, and roasted peppers with a low-fat tzatziki sauce in a whole wheat wrap, $9.25).
Two Blondes and Stove is at 26 Clinton Ave., Huntington, 631-673-1300.
