Burgers just got a lot more social.
Southampton’s Union Burger Bar has a new home and a new name at Southampton Social on Elm Street. Rebranded with a sleek new name, Union, opened Thursday night with a goal to fold in the best attributes of Union Burger Bar and Southampton Social Club in one space. Union Burger Bar closed at the Bowden Square space on Sept. 27, co-owner Ian Duke told Newsday.
"The idea behind it came from seeing the success at different facets of our businesses, and paying attention to what’s going on in society and that’s where this menu and the idea behind this is coming from," Duke said.
The menu includes Union Burger Bar favorites with their build your own burger option. Guests can choose from beef patty ($17), impossible burger ($20) and a double patty ($20). Entrée include steak frites ($44) made with seared skirt steak and served with house fries and chimichurri.
Union will also serve butternut squash ravioli ($33) served with sage brown butter and shaved reggiano. There is also a kids menu including a burger bowl, grilled cheese and chicken fingers (all $16). Union will also have milkshakes including classics ($11) like vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and cookies and cream, as well as boozy flavors like sweet Kentucky caramel ($20), which is a vanilla milkshake made with Kentucky bourbon, a caramel swirl and toasted marshmallow.
The menu now includes a sushi and sashimi bar featuring a spicy crunchy roll ($13), a California roll ($13) and a rainbow roll ($22) made with salmon, yellowtail, tuna, kani, avocado and cucumber.
Aside from great food, Duke also promised to provide the community with great vibes. "Our goal is to have stuff going on every day," Duke said, including live music, bingo, trivia and comedy.
"We’re really tired of hearing people out here saying, there’s nothing to do," he said. "Well we’re going to make something to do, for everyone." Check UnionSouthampton.com in the coming days for a calendar of events. The space offers indoor and outdoor seating for 300 guests in total.
Merging both of these concepts provides the opportunity to use the Elm Street space year-round, when it used to be seasonal as the Southampton Social Club. Duke and his team will continue to do private events for birthdays, anniversaries and more.
