Roses and chocolate are familiar themes for Valentine's Day. Then, there are blood oranges.
They certainly have the right tint, and their mix of sweet and tart reflects romance in its own way. And Almond restaurant in Bridgehampton celebrates the citrus and the holiday with a four-course dinner themed to the fruit.
It will be available on Feb. 14, starting at 5 p.m. Cost: $65 per person.
Chef Jason Weiner's colorful menu includes sea scallops with a blood-orange onion sauce; Montauk pearl oysters with blood-orange granita; roasted rack of pork with blood orange-and-fennel mostarda; smoked and grilled Loch Duarte salmon with a blood orange-and-ginger gastrique; duck-and-foie gras agnolotti a l'orange; and a hazelnut-and-blood orange torte for two with creme fraiche sorbet.
