Located in the heart of downtown Lynbrook is the new Village Square, which makes its home in the cavernous space that, most recently, housed JMags Downtown Grill and, before that, Broadway Beanery. Owner Giuseppe Magnotta describes the place as an American grill with a menu that focuses on appetizers but also features burgers, pastas, salads, steaks and seafood.

Some dinner possibilities: crispy calamari ($10.95), tilapia tacos ($10.95), three kinds of sliders — ground beef, pulled pork and chicken parm – ($9.95), a Mediterranean salad ($8.95), a Black Angus burger ($10.95), an entree of panko crusted chicken ($16.95) and lobster mac and cheese ($18.95).

Village Square is at 23 Atlantic Ave., Lynbrook, 516-593-6600, jmagsdowntowngrill.com.
