Vortex, the Port Jefferson Asian restaurant that just earned a two-star rating in Newsday, has opened a second branch in New Hyde Park.

The two restaurants have similar menus, which include a version of the traditional kaiseki dinner, the multi-course meal defined by its seasonal ingredients and interplays of tastes and textures.

Traditional sushi and sashimi also are available at both restaurants, as is Asian-fusion fare. Crisp red snapper with Thai basil leads that group.
