
Weekend picks: A meal with Mom

There can never be enough choices for Mother's Day. Here are three to liven up the festivities.
Four Food Studio & Cocktail Salon in Melville offers four brunch seatings: 10 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The restaurant will have dinner-style fare at 5:15 p.m. and 6 p.m. The buffet includes omelets, pastas and carving stations; a seafood bar and a dessert bar. Cost is $49 per person; children 12 years old or younger, $29. Petting zoo for children; gift bags for Mom.

La Pace with Chef Michael in Glen Cove plans a Mother's Day menu that includes such appetizers as seafood salad, clam oreganata, lobster bisque and rigatoni Bolognese; and main dishes including braised pork shank, spaghetti with seafood fra diavolo, honey-and-cider glazed duck, and prime rib; plus finales that include Napoleon, strawberry shortcake, cheesecake. Adults, $49; children, $23.

Mosaic in St. James plans a three-course, $35 fixed-price dinner. There also will be children's choices available. The menu includes such appetizers as chorizo-mussel gazpacho with escarole, garbanzo beans and roasted-garlic tzatziki; Thai-basil scented gnocchi; and grilled vegetable Caprese with fresh mozzarella. Main dishes: Marsala-glazed salmon; braised beef short rib; grilled pork tenderloin with Sichuan sweet-potato hash. Dessert: warm apple clafouti or a chocolate tasting.
