To honor the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels, performing in the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach this weekend, why not make dinner a "blue" event? Here are three restaurants whose names honor those precision pilots flying high in azure skies.
A cool blue sushi salon where pristinely fresh fish is presented with flair. Menu highlights include the lively "tuna pizza," towering five-flavor sashimi and a rainbow of colorful sushi rolls. The kitchen does well with miso-glazed black cod and tender steak teriyaki with bok choy.
At this nostalgic spot, the toppings on the Neapolitan pies are robust and garlicky, the crusts crisp and thin. The traditional menu features all the parms -- chicken, veal and eggplant, plus such pasta classics as house-made lasagna and linguine with white clam sauce.
In comfortable, tasteful surroundings, chef Danny Avalos offers a menu of new American classics, among them pot roast, marinated skirt steak and house-made gnocchi Bolognese.
