Today my iPhone and I had lunch at West End Café in Carle Place. While my new toy helped me check my email and Twitter account and read a few more percentage points of George R.R. Martin’s Dance with Dragons, I ordered and consumed this fine Cobb salad.

We’re big-time Cobb nuts here at FeedMe (see recent Cobb dispatches from Caracara Mexican Grill in Farmingdale, Vine Wine Bar in Merrick) and West End’s was a winner. Grilled chicken breast is usually a big snooze but this one was vibrantly seasoned, very moist and still warm. A classic Cobb keeps all the elements separate, but I still enjoyed this tossed pileup of crisp bacon, dead-ripe avocado, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, blue cheese, chopped egg and special guest star asparagus.

My iPhone was kind enough to snap a picture, and didn’t even want a bite. A great dining companion.

West End Café is at 187 Glen Cove Rd. Carle Place, 516-294-5608.
