Hicks, Long Island’s oldest garden nursery, is holding three Saturday culinary programs this November. The programs are free.

Oct. 30: In honor of Halloween, Rodrigo Bernal, executive chef of The Carltun in Eisenhower Park, will demonstrate two recipes: pumpkin risotto and Italian pumpkin cookies called “minni di virgini.”

Nov. 6: Lisa Basini, a.k.a. The Baking Coach, will demonstrate a fall harvest apple cake.

Nov. 13: Hicks’ own “fudge master,” Maria Vigliotti, reveals the secrets of this treat.

Nov. 20, Greg Baumel, chef/owner of The Stone Turtle in Island Park, will demonstrate holiday hors d’oeuvres.

Demonstrations are one hour long and begin at 11 a.m. Samples and recipes will be provided. Hicks Nurseries is at 100 Jericho Tpke., Westbury, 516-334-0066.
