Winnie's Coffee Shop, Bay Shore: Closed for violations

Winnie’s Coffee Shop in Bay Shore was a humble — some would say shabby — luncheonette where co-owner and chef Tony Bellucci demonstrated considerable culinary skill. On a daily basis, Bellucci put out such items as banh mi, a Vietnamese-style sandwich, a French cream of mussel soup as well as a panoply of inventive omelets, frittatas and pancakes. And, of course, a great burger.
The place has now been closed by order of the fire marshal. Whether it will be brought up to code and reopened remains to be seen. A call elicited no response.
