Gabby's Gourmet Bagelatessen, in Woodbury and in Syosset, makes you a regular with its "flagels" (a crust-lover's flat bagel) and breakfast specials. But you'll  find some good panini at these eateries, too.

The grill gets going with a respectable Cubano, complete with pickles; a good grilled chicken number with roasted peppers and mozzarella; plus a vegetarian panino, a chicken Parmigiana production; an "all American" via turkey, ham, Swiss cheese, lettuce and tomato; and the "Godfather," highlighted by Genoa salami and provolone cheese (must be named for "The Godfather, Part IV").

Each is $6.99 and comes with a salad. Tasty stuff and competition for the house's chunky whitefish salad. And the panini arrive not on a bagel but on flatbread. Call ahead. They close the grill later in the day.

Panino a la Gabby.
