Join in the World Cup festivities. You can salute Spain at plenty of Long Island restaurants. Paellas abound.

Of course, if the Netherlands had won, this post wouldn't exist. You'll look a long time for Dutch treats in Nassau and Suffolk before settling on some Gouda or Edam cheese. Maybe there's a hidden outpost for  frikadellen or slavinken.

But give the Spanish their due at Casa Luis in Smithtown, where you'll enjoy Serrano ham and Manchego cheese, sauteed prawns, shrimp in garlic sauce, octopus vinaigrette, broiled chorizo sausage,  garlic-marinated pork, paellas and mariscadas. Casa Luis is at 1033 Jericho Tpke.; 631-543-5656.

Costa de Espana in Port Jefferson also sends out the standards. Look for gazpacho, caldo Gallego,  chicken or veal in almond sauce, sole in lemon sauce, as well as the paellas and mariscadas. Costa de Espana is at 9 Traders Cove; 631-331-5363.

In Nassau, consider House of Spain, at 2008 Merrick Rd., Merrick, 516-378-8777; and Meson Iberia, 4335 Austin Blvd., Island Park, 516-897-4911.
