A massive fire Thursday in Port Washington has damaged a number of businesses along the block of Main Street directly across from the LIRR station, including Rosa’s Pizza, Dunkin’ Donuts and Restaurant Yamaguchi. Since it opened in 1988, Yamaguchi has been one of the very best Japanese restaurants on Long Island and a personal favorite of mine. The ensuing fusion-frenzied decades have had basically no effect on its traditional menu.

On its Facebook page, Yamaguchi has written “Sorry everyone .?.?. looks like we will be closed for a while. There are plans of relocating not too far from here, but there is no definite answer on anything, it hasn't even been 24 hours yet. Thanks for everybody's support.”

We’re keeping our fingers crossed.
