My son Kevin still talks about Thanksgiving 1992. He was 5 and his brother, Sean, was 4. Sean was a very imaginative child. He had taken my gravy bowl, filled it with Micro Machine toy vehicles and was twirling it around when it collided with Kevin's head. My husband, a cop in New York City, came home from work, took one look at Kevin's head and the two of them spent the rest of Thanksgiving at the Nassau County Medical Center.

Kevin even wrote about it for school, saying it was the worst day ever! Sean thought it was so funny he would, for many years, call his brother "Gravy bowl" which, of course, would lead to a wrestling match. Luckily, now we can all look back and smile.
