Alzheimer's takes its toll not only on the patient but on the caregiver. Family and professional caregivers can get help and advice at a workshop sponsored by Stony Brook University's Alzheimer's Disease Assistance Center.

The workshop features an overview of the disease and gives lessons on how to handle communication and behavioral challenges. There also will be presentations on legal and financial issues relating to the disease.

The workshop is Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Stony Brook University Health Sciences Center. The workshop is free, but there's a $5 parking charge. A free lunch will be provided. For more information and to register, call 631-444-4000 or 631-444-1365.
