Attend employment sessions

Latest employment data released earlier this month by the federal government had some hopeful signs for older workers. The unemployment rate for people older than 55 hit a three-year low, while the number with jobs hit an all-time high. So. if your job search has led to nothing but frustration and despair, this may be a good time to redouble your efforts.

You can get some help at employment workshops for mature workers sponsored by the Nassau County Office for the Aging. Experts will help you update your resumé, give you job-searching tips and polish your interviewing skills.

The workshops are free, but registration is required. Call 516-227-8945 or email seniors@ hhsnassaucountyny.us. All workshops will be held at local public libraries. Here's a schedule:

Friday Hicksville, 2:30-4:30 p.m.

April 3 Levittown, 10 a.m.-noon

April 19 Hempstead, 2-4 p.m.

April 23 Mineola, 2-4 p.m.
