As the population ages, more family members are taking on the enormous task of becoming caregivers for elderly loved ones. Fortunately, more resources to help family caregivers cope are becoming available.

Nassau County is starting a caregivers' support group; meetings will be held on the third Tuesday of every month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Shelter Rock Public Library on Searingtown Road in Albertson.

The goal of the group, which is led by a social worker from the Nassau Office for the Aging, is to share experiences while allowing caregivers to unburden themselves and get away from the demanding and stressful tasks for a little while.

The meetings are free. For more information, call 516-227-8945.
