Are you hiding something?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say many adults 45 and older who smoke are "secret smokers."

If you've tried to quit but have been unsuccessful, a campaign from the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute, aimed at older smokers, may give you the tools to snuff out cigarettes for good.

"Clear Horizons: A Quit-Smoking Guide for People 50 and Older" offers advice aimed at coaxing and scaring you into quitting. You can download the guide at nwsdy.li/clearhorizons.

If you're a Suffolk resident who needs some hands-on help, the county is holding free six-week smoking-cessation classes this summer. Find a class at nwsdy.li/suffolk-smoking.

For programs in Nassau, call the New York State Smokers' Quitline toll free at 866-697-8487 or go to nwsdy.li/quitsmoking for locations.
