For many, Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer. This year, the holiday falls on Sept. 1 -- the earliest it can ever be -- and free outdoor concerts slow to a trickle after the last weekend in August. Here's a chance to see one of Long Island's most popular bands in two unscheduled, late-summer concerts.

Swingtime Big Band performs at Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay (nwsdy.li/arboretumconcert) Sunday at 6 p.m. On Friday at 8 p.m., Swingtime closes out the Long Beach Summer Concert Series (nwsdy.li/ lbconcert) at the National Boulevard stage near the Allegria Hotel.

The Planting Fields concert is a late addition to the schedule. The Long Beach event is a rescheduling of a rained-out performance. Both events are free, but to avoid the regular $8 parking charge at Planting Fields, arrive after 5 p.m., when parking is also free.
