Women who have undergone genetic testing for breast cancer and have tested positive can attend a new support group at Adelphi University's School of Social Work in Garden City.

Unlike a typical breast-cancer exam, genetic testing looks to see if a woman is predisposed to breast cancer because of her genetic makeup. Genetic testing is not recommended for women who do not have a family history of breast cancer.

The support group, a part of the Adelphi New York Statewide Breast Cancer Program, meets on eight consecutive Mondays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. beginning Feb. 25. The sessions are free; registration is required.
