It's never too late to go to medical school, according to Winthrop-University Hospital officials.
The hospital is holding a mini-med school adult education program consisting of five classes on five consecutive Wednesdays beginning next week. Each class centers on parts of the body and how they work.
The topic Jan. 16 is "Cardiovascular and Endocrine Systems." Upcoming seminars are "Reproductive and Gastrointestinal Systems" (Jan. 23); "Nervous and Musculoskeletal Systems" (Jan. 30); "Dermatology and Ophthalmology" (Feb. 6); and "Respiratory System and Preventative Medicine" (Feb. 13). No medical degree is required -- all that's needed is an interest in science and a love for learning.
Classes meet 7-9 p.m. at the Dr. Martin Spatz Conference Center on the lower level of the main hospital, 259 First St. in Mineola.
