You won't get a medical doctor's degree, but you will get an abundance of knowledge if you attend Winthrop-University Hospital's Mini-Med School.
The five-week series of classes, taught by medical experts from Winthrop, is aimed at helping adults learn about what's going on inside their bodies so they can be better advocates for their own health. There's a different topic each week.
The series kicks off Wednesday with a workshop on the cardiovascular and gastrointestinal systems.

April 9 Nervous and musculoskeletal systems.
All classes at the Mineola hospital are free, but registration is required. To reserve a spot for any of the two-hour workshops, held from 7 to 9 p.m., call 516-663-2720.
