'Liberated Ladies' at Smithtown Library

Dorothy Zbornak and Carrie Bradshaw were each shaped by the women's movement of the 1960s.

As played by Bea Arthur in the TV comedy "The Golden Girls," Dorothy was feisty and liberated.

Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie in "Sex and the City" could outdrink, outsmoke and outspend most men. And both women were surrounded by a circle of gal pals who gave them support.

Just how much the two had in common is the subject of a discussion at the Nesconset Branch of the Smithtown Public Library on Tuesday, from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. "Liberated Ladies: From 'The Golden Girls' to 'Sex and the City' " also will look at one major difference between Dorothy's group and Carrie's clique: money.
