Mammograms, other procedures still covered

With the Supreme Court upholding the Affordable Care Act, many popular, already enacted programs can continue, although what happens after the presidential election in November is anyone's guess. For Medicare beneficiaries, this means annual wellness visits with their doctors are still covered, as are several preventive examinations, including screenings for heart disease, diabetes and some cancers.
Also still covered is the free yearly mammogram for women on Medicare and for women older than 40 on most private insurance plans. The National Cancer Institute recommends getting the mammogram from the same health provider each year to make comparing results easier. By law, you must receive a detailed report of your results within 30 days of your test.
