They don't make movies like they used to. And they don't make movie theaters like they used to, either. Here's a chance to see great movies in a historic Long Island movie theater.

The Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts is screening several all-time-great classics in its venerable downtown movie theater on East Main Street.

Coming up: "Citizen Kane" on Friday, Dec. 26 at 7:30 p.m. and "On the Waterfront" the next day, Dec. 27, at 7:30 p.m. You can get the New Year off to a suspenseful start with four greats from Alfred Hitchcock: "Rear Window" and "Vertigo" on Jan. 2 and "North by Northwest" and "Psycho" on Jan. 3.

Tickets range from $8 to $10. Discount packages of $60 (good for 10 admissions) or $100 (good for 20 admissions) are available. For a schedule, go to nwsdy.li/smithtownfilms or call 631-724-3700.
