You can never be bored in the greatest city in the world. We spent hours on a rainy Sunday viewing the “Pompeii the Exhibit, Life and Death in the Shadow of Vesuvius” \[now closed\] in Times Square.

We walked the West Side’s High Line on occasions, because we enjoyed it so much. We strolled through Chelsea Market in the meat packing district, amazed at the variety of vendors. We visited Mario Batali’s Eataly on Fifth Avenue and were delighted with all the Italian specialties offered.

We went to the Central Park Zoo and walked along Fifth Avenue, enjoying the beautiful and upscale shops and department stores along the way. Of course, we also saw a Broadway show and dined at some really great restaurants. We were never disappointed with our quick trips into Manhattan. No matter what your taste or preference for culture, entertainment or food, you will find it within an hour from your doorstep. Who could possibly ask for more?

My friend has been in Florida for a few months but will be returning soon. I have a whole list of things to do in the city waiting for her. We still have museums to visit; Ground Zero to pay our respects to; the Intrepid to explore; Chinatown and Little Italy to experience. The list is endless.

New York, New York, it’s a wonderful town!

One of the most fun things we’ve done is sail from South Street Seaport on the Pioneer schooner. On a beautiful day, this is an unbeatable pleasure. One can sit and view all the sights, as well as pitch in and “help” the crew. It’s fun for all ages.

I have always loved New York and more so now that it is not just a subway ride away. The city works its magic, and I feel the energy as soon as I emerge from Penn Station.
