Once upon an alternative Valentine's Day

My wife, Patricia, and I celebrated our first Valentine's Day on Feb. 11. Why?

Well, I had planned to give her an engagement ring on the obvious day, Feb. 14, but decided to surprise her several days before the romantic gifts of "hearts and flowers."

Now, 40 years after our engagement, our hearts still fondly remember Feb. 11 as our true Valentine's Day!
